Fuel is a source of energy for engines. As human being eats food and work, so as an engine. Traditionally, we are using a conventional source of fuel for vehicles. Automobiles companies improved technologies over the years. They always are trying to find an alternative fuel. Due to climate change, all automobile companies should cap the emission of carbon dioxide. At present, there are different types of fuel for cars, motorbikes and other vehicles. Some are clean and others a source of pollution.
Types of Fuel for Cars
1. Bio-diesel
It is an alternative fuel of diesel. It is extracted from natural resources such as sugar, palm oil, and rapeseed. The vehicles need some modifications in the engine to use bio-diesel. Subsequently, it has become costly for normal use. The fuel is not being used on a large scale because it is based on basic the foods human being used.
2. Diesel
Most of the transport vehicles are using diesel as fuel. Normally heavy-duty vehicles use it for long drives. But there is a question mark on diesel due to harmful smokes and gases. All the world is facing an air pollution problem. If to think about the environment, then this fuel is not a friendly option.
3. Ethanol
It is another form of bio-fuel. It is extracted from natural resources like barley, corn, sugarcane plants. Normally household cars use it as fuel either gasoline and ethanol or diesel and ethanol. Ethanol is a sustainable energy source. Vehicles with ethanol have low mileage and frequent refilling problem.
4. Gasoline
Most of the car-types use gasoline as fuel due to its faster acceleration. It has been used on a large scale since the 19th century. But due to the excessive CO2 emission, it is now outdated fuel. At present, most of the manufacturing companies are finding environment-friendly fuels for vehicles.
5. Liquified Petroleum
Another name of liquified petroleum is propane. Despite being clean, only hybrid cars are using it. It is used as a mixture with either propylene, butane or ethane. Possibly, more vehicles will use liquid petrol in the future.
Environment-friendly Fuels
1. Compressed Natural Gas
CNG is another environment-friendly fuel type. It can be an attractive fuel for automobile companies finding less emission technology. It produces almost 80% less harmful gases than other traditional fuels. As a result, the cost of running a CNG vehicle is 50% lesser. CNG is becoming popular as vehicle fuel in many developed and developing countries. At the same time, CNG is a domestic fuel source for the people.
2. Hydrogen as Fuel
It is a zero-emission fuel for the future. Hydrogen is widely available on our planet. Vehicles can use it in fuel cells and internal combustion engines.
Conclusion
Most of the conventional fuels have more CO2 emission. They are in limits and will exhaust one day. Some more human being is facing a global warming problem. Planet earth is warming with speed than we expect. The middle way is to find clean energy sources for us. That’s why the trend of electric vehicles is speeding up despite slow growth.
